On our 100th podcast episode, we discuss the difference between spiritual practice and ritual.
Rituals are helpful tools that can enhance our spiritual practice. Spiritual practice is the awareness we have of our thoughts, feelings, and actions throughout each day. Rituals aid us in becoming aware of patterns in our behaviour that we’d like to change. They can also bring us together in community in a healthy way for us to enhance our growth by having supportive individuals in our lives that support our change.
Awareness is the key. Our egos and shadows can hijack our rituals which results in our inability to foster change or awareness of our patterns in our lives. Understanding how this happens is important. We can believe that by performing a ritual, we are being conscious and aware when we are not. Learning what your ego and shadow feel like in the body when they are trying to take charge is an important step in spiritual evolution and maturity.
